Season 15, Hell's Legacy, leans hard into Diablo's roots. Deckard Cain is back, Waking Nightmares bring the three Prime Evils into the story, and the whole season revolves around turning their echoes into usable power. If you're sorting out builds early, having the right D4 items can make those first nightmare fights feel far less rough. The real draw, though, is choice. You don't just beat Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo for the nostalgia hit. You pick the kind of seasonal progress you want to chase.
Three hunts, one growing threat
Cain first points you toward the Imperial Library, where the chase starts with Baal. The Horadrim's Fate sends you through fights with Tal Rasha, the Ancients, and Baal's forces before the Echo of Baal shows up. Win, and you'll get experience, a Lesser Splinter of the Black Soulstone, plus a shot at Leoric's Crown. 1. Take the splinter back to Cain. 2. Head for Travincal and collect Khalim's Brain, Eye, Heart, and Flail. 3. Use Khalim's Will to break the Compelling Orb, push through the Durance of Hate, and face Mephisto. That second fight pays out runes, experience, and another splinter.
A quick power table
Prime Evil | Main power | Best places to use it. Diablo | Flames of Metus, repeated fire lines with heavy burst and burning damage | Helltides and Infernal Hordes, where extra cinders and Aether really add up. Baal | Ice of Excidium, cold blasts followed by smaller ice shots | Undercity runs and Lair Boss farming, especially when you're after focused rewards. Mephisto | Ghosts of Odium, physical spirits that strike on a timer | The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons, where extra progress helps keep runs moving. You can only carry one alignment at a time, so don't overthink it. Pick the loop you actually play most.
Why the Diablo route still matters
The third quest, The Brother's Keeper, is the season's big history lesson. Near Corbach, you find Aidan and enter the Cathedral. From there, the route takes you past the Butcher, Blood Raven, and the Summoner before dropping you into Hell itself. Diablo can't be finished off right away. Portals of Darkness shield him, so clear those first or you'll waste time swinging at an untouchable target. His splinter completes the set. There's also a chance for Stone of Jordan, a ring that matches every resistance to your highest one and boosts damage for that same element.
Making the seasonal track count
Once all three splinters are on Cain's table, the Seasonal tab opens and the long grind begins. Your chosen power gains reputation from kills and its linked activities, with 20,000 reputation needed for the full track. Six upgrades wait along the way. Some help with primary resource, while others take a chunk from an enemy's maximum life. That means the early choice isn't permanent pressure; it is more about where you want to spend your evenings. Players looking for a smoother push can match their build goals with d4 gear for sale before settling into Pit clears, boss runs, or crowded Helltides.
