Matt Luke in year one has pushed his unit to cut weight, build speed and play with violent hands (a classic O-line term, if I had nickel for every time I heard that in fall camp). https://www.arizonastatesportsshop.com The most critical cog on this offensive line may be Walker Parks.Walker Parks has been one of the most highly rated players on the OL to come through Clemson since Mitch Hyatt. Parks played 199 snaps in 11 games as a key reserve in the COVID season. Over the next 2 seasons, he started 26 of 27 games, bringing in a fourth team All-ACC selection in the 2022 season. Then, the worst of news happened against Charleston Southern. A knee injury derailed his senior season. The loss of Parks was the worst possible outcome for a unit that had largely struggled to be cohesive for several years in a row. Now, Parks enters his redshirt senior season. He is a leader of the unit and someone with the experience and leadership to help anchor this team in 2024 under the tutelage of Matt Luke. Truth be told, it's a little bit harder to show impact on the OL like some positions like WR or RB, or really any other position. So the best meter of impact in my mind for someone of this nature is the PFF grades for positions in the interior. His initial grade in 2020 was 78.9, following that in 2021 with 75.8. For reference, the only lineman who graded higher on offense on both of those teams was Jordan McFadden. A drop came in 2022 when the coaching staff moved him from Right Tackle to Right Guard coming in at 58.1. However, as prior mentioned, he was also an All-ACC Selection. As it comes to 2024, his prospect grades still list him as an 89 on certain sites that use PFF metrics, so many people are still high on him as a prospect. As of today's big weigh-in, he's slimmed down another 6 lbs to 304. Something that could provide dividends if he is able to stay healthy. The Clemson offensive line needs so much more improvement than just one player, but the odds of them coming together and getting better are much higher when you have Walker Parks at full strength.
